Algean (Junk) Steines

Algean Margaret Steines, 93, of Bellevue, Iowa passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2015, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, surrounded by her family. A Funeral Service for Algean will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, October 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Algean will be held from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Algean was born on August 31, 1922 in Bellevue to Mathias and Anna (Portz) Junk. She married Attalas Steines on January 20, 1941 in Springbrook, Iowa. He proceeded her in death on September 12, 1998. Algean was a homemaker, raising her seven children and helping on the family farm. She was always full of energy and enjoyed gambling at the boat, playing cards and bingo. Algean had a great sense of humor and was a great dancer. In her spare time Algean loved to quilt. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Dave (Joyce) Steines, of Atlanta, GA, Bernie (Suzi) Steines, of Bellevue, Steve (Molly) of LaMotte, IA, Mike (Jane) Steines, of Bellevue; daughters Judy (Dennis) Boeckenstedt of Petersburg, IA, and Angie (Jeff) Kilburg, of Bellevue; 26 grandchildren, 28 greatgrandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Algean is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Darla, brothers, Ardo, Marvin, and Dwain Junk; sisters, Vivian Manders, Marie Kilburg, Evelyn Gerardy, Jullitta Reistroffer, Laverne Watters and Audrey Heim. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Algean. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Mill Valley and Hospice of Dubuque.
