Alta G Robinson

Alta G. Robinson, 84, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 17th, 2007 at her home. Alta was born in Cranbury, NJ, daughter of the late Harrison Lewis and Lillian Perrine (Ellis) Schanck. She married John Alden Robinson Jr. July 21st, 1945 in the Cranbury Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in March of 2004. Alta was proud to have been a preachers wife. She also was a homemaker and loving mother who went back to school receiving her BA in Special Education in 1969 and her Masters of Science & Education in 1972. She taught at Woodward State Hospital (currently Woodward Referral Center) and later taught at the Williamsburg High School, Williamsburg, Iowa, as a Special Education Teacher, she retired from teaching in 1987. Traveling and quilting were among her favorite things to do in her retirement. Especially spending time with her family. Alta relocated to Iowa in 2004, and became very involved with First United Methodist Church, and with various ladies groups in Clinton. Survivors include, four children, John (Patricia) Robinson, Clinton, Jill (Jeff) Bailey, Ames, Harrison (Marian) Robinson, Madison, WI and Nelson (Julie) Robinson, N. Liberty; 10 grandchildren; four grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ethel Schanck, Cranbury, NJ. Besides her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kristal Jill Robinson, and two brothers, William Schanck, Wallace Schanck. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 22nd 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 236 7th Ave. Clinton. Rev. Herb Shafer will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21st from 4-6 PM at Powell Funeral Home, 407 N Highland, Williamsburg, IA. There also will be a Funeral Service at A.S. Cole & Company, 22 N Main St, Cranbury, NJ 08512, on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the East Windsor Cemetery, Heights Town, New Jersey.
