Alverda Heiar, 96, of Bellevue, passed away, Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Visitation for Alverda will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue and again Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.Alverda was born the 2nd child of twelve on September 11, 1921 at the family farm south of Springbrook, daughter of Matthew and Julia (Kilburg) Michel. She married Arnold Heiar on September 3, 1940 in Springbrook. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1979.Alverda was simple, hardworking and loving. She worked along side her husband on the farm most her life. She was an excellent cook and baker and spent many hours tending to her large garden. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling. A trip to the Philippines topped her list of favorites. Alverdas family and faith meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed.Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joanne (Donald) Schwager, of New Liberty, Iowa; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and six siblings, Helen Zeimet, Marian Kloft, Bernadine Hartung, Donald Michel, Bernard Bun (Darlene) Michel and Carma (Lloyd) Frank.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold; a son, Harold and Mary Jo Heiar; daughter, Mary Etta and John Dunne; great grandchildren, Erika Schwager and Jacob Lucas Dunne four sisters, Dolores Heiar and Sr. Mary Matthew, Alvina Stillmunkes and Arlene Hager; and brother, Herman Michel.The family would like to thank the staff at Mill Valley Care Center and her many friends and family for the special care and compassion shown to Alverda.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alverdas name.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hachmannfuneralhome.com.
