Alverna L. Keil, 88, of Bellevue, passed away Thursday morning, June, 18, 2015, at Sunrise Villa - Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 22 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation for Alverna will be from 9:00 11:00am, Monday morning, prior to the funeral service at the church. Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Alverna was born August 10, 1926 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lydia (Becker) Sanders. She graduated in 1943 from Bellevue High School and attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque, Iowa. Alverna married Alvin Keil on August 1, 1944 in Bellevue, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1993. Alverna enjoyed gardening, golfing, and watching birds at her feeders. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as a good game of cards with the family. Most of all, she enjoyed those special times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school, tied quilts, and attended Naomi Circle. Those left to honor her memory include her children: Jim (Barb) Keil and Joannie (Dean) Kilburg, of Bellevue; grandchildren: Jennifer, David (Kristin), and Andrew (Kim) Keil; Matt and Mike (Nicole) Kilburg; and great grandchildren: Jacob, Rachel, Zack, Lauren, Cyrus, and Isabella. Her husband, parents, and a sister, Velma Griebel, preceded her in death.
