Alvin Medinger, 85, of Bellevue, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007, under the care of Dubuque Hospice at his daughters home in Epworth. Alvin was born July 4th, 1921, in Bellevue, son of the late Jacob and Mary (Michels) Medinger. He married Evelyn C. Kloft on October 5th, 1949. She preceded him in death February 8th, 2002. Alvin farmed all his life and enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army. Alvin was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post 273 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau. Survivors include six children, Douglas (Nellie) Medinger, Camanche, Suzanne (Larry) Rubel, Epworth, Jeffrey (Jean) Medinger, Clinton, Terry (Brenda) Medinger, Streamwood, Il., Greg (Debra) Medinger, Atlanta, Georgia and Beth (Tim) Doyle, Muscatine; 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren with one on the way; three sisters, Marie (Ives) Eckelberg, Spragueville, Evelyn (Allen) Reistroffer, and Audrey Schroeder, both of Camanche; three sisters-in-law, Vera Medinger, Maquoketa, Alma (Ray) Banowetz, Marion and Vera (Norbert) Banowetz, Cedar Rapids; one brother-in-law, Don (Ann) Kloft, Dubuque. Besides his wife and his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 25th, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Scott Bullock will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Bellevue American Legion Post 273. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home of Bellevue and again on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of procession to the church.
