Alvin Joseph Michel, 95, of Springbrook, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Manor Care in Dubuque. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, December 30, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. A private funeral service will follow. Alvin was born on July 30, 1922, in rural Springbrook, Iowa, son of Frank and Susan (Kloft) Michel. He married Berniece Heiar on October 01, 1946. Alvin work for the Savanna Army Depot for 30 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran. In his earlier years he enjoyed Polka Dancing with his wife Berniece. He also loved to hunt, fish and play cards.Those left to honor his memory include his two sons, Gary Michel, of Maquoketa and Dale (Paula) Michel, of Springbrook; two daughters, Carol (Steve) Lucke, of Maquoketa and Mary Ellen (Dennis) Krueger, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde (Charlene) Michel and Lloyd (Waneta) Michel; sister in-law, Joene Michel.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandson, Denny Michel; brothers, Leo, Harry, and Floyd; and sisters, Leona Schmidt, Lillian Trenkamp, Marie Banowetz and Algean Michel.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alvins name.
