Arlene H. Hager, 88, of Bellevue, died Saturday morning, February 17, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation for Arlene will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 7:00 PM at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Wednesday morning from 9:00 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Arlene was born on June 13, 1929, in Springbrook, Iowa, daughter of Matthew and Julia (Kilburg) Michel. She married Orville Hager on August 23, 1951, in Springbrook. Arlene spent most of her life on the farm. She was a hard worker. Whether she was doing chores, gardening, cooking or cleaning, she seemed to have endless energy. Even the past couple of years she felt she had to somehow participate in lawn work or shoveling snow, against her familys wishes of course. Arlene was simple, she was never one to see value in things, just people. She never wanted to burden anyone, yet was always looking to be helpful to others anyway she could. Arlenes family meant the world to her. She was known for her home-made applesauce. She always made sure she sent the grandchildren home with a fresh batch. Those left to honor her memory include her three children, Diane (Larry) Frett, of Maquoketa, Darrel Hager, of Bellevue and Brenda Hager, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Steven (Jamie) Frett and David (Tara) Frett; five great grandchildren, two brothers, Donald Michel and Bernard Bun (Darlene) Michel; five sisters, Alverda Heiar, Helen Zeimet, Marian Kloft, Bernadine Hartung and Carma (Lloyd) Frank. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Herman; and three sisters, Dolores Heiar, Sr. Mary Matthew Michel and Alvina Stillmunkes.
