Arlene Emma Rowe

Arlene Emma Rowe, 93, of Dubuque passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 25, 10:00 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 with burial immediately following at St. John Cemetery, Bellevue. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Arlene was born on July 3, 1923 in Sumner, IA, to Louis and Emma (Preibe) Dreier. In 1942, she married Cecil Buttolph, who died in 1952. Their children: Gloria, Nancy, Barbara Ann, and Cecil Lee, Jr. In 1953, she married Maynard Rowe, who died in 2013. Their children: Barbara and Susan. Arlene traveled throughout the U.S. and to Arizona each winter with Maynard for many years, and visited Australia. Her family and grandchildren were very important to her. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, corresponding with friends, and growing African violets.She is survived by daughters Gloria (Russell) Clausen of Bellevue, Barbara Day of Dubuque, and Susan Chapman of St. Charles, MO; son-in-law Roger Keil; grandchildren Shane Clausen, Drew Clausen, Kyle (Raquel) Clausen, Trent (Lori) Clausen, Allan Keil, Ardel Keil, Janell (Dave) Yaddof, Garth (Ma Lei) Day, Christopher Day, Brandon (Hilary) Mueller, Morgan Chapman, and Mackenzie Chapman. Also, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Also, sister, Lois Ackerman, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Louise Rowe, Clair (Florine) Rowe, and Don (Ann) Rowe. Preceding her in death are Cecil Buttolph, infant daughter Barbara Ann, young son Lee, and Nancy Keil; and Maynard Rowe and sons-in-law, Robert Day, Jr. and Barry Chapman. Also, sisters Wilma Haug (and brother-in law Charles) and Gladys Daniel (and brother-in-law, Raymond) and brothers Harry (and sister-in-law, Marge), Ralph, and Virgil (and sister-in-law, Alva). Also, brothers- and sisters-in-law Walter Rowe, Leland (and Edna) Rowe, and Kenn Rowe.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue, or to her favorite charity, Camp Courageous, Monticello.
