Arthur Albert Grewe

Arthur Albert Grewe, 108, of Bellevue, Iowa, formerly of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away Friday morning, January 27, 2017 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue.A visitation for Art will be held from 5:00 until 7:00pm, Monday, January 30, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again, Thursday, February 2, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 855 Lee Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. He will be laid to rest at Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois. He was the youngest of nine children born to Friedrich and Sophie (Bergmann) Grewe. Arthur was born and raised in Des Plaines, Illinois on the family farm. He met and married Gertrude (Kunz) in 1934. They made their home in Des Plaines and had one son, Dale. After Gertrude's passing, he lived alone until the age of 98 when he moved to live with his son in Bellevue, IA. Art always kept Des Plaines in his heart. He leaves behind his son Dale, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. Art enjoyed sharing his century worth of memories with all he knew. He will be truly missed. Those left to honor his memory, include his son Dale Grewe, of Bellevue; and four step-grandchildrenArt was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and a sister.
