Betty L. Stoecken, 77, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Monday morning, February 15, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday evening, February 18 at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, at the funeral home. Betty was born on March 28, 1938, in Bellevue, daughter of the late George and Matilda Tillie (Ries) Ernst. She married Fredrick Stoecken on April 19, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Betty was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Josephs hot lunch program for over 25 years. She also volunteered at the Senior Center in Bellevue for 20 years. Betty was one of a kind, she called a spade a spade. She was good hearted and loved her family. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching sports, especially her beloved, Cubbies. She will be deeply missed, Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Fred, of Bellevue, two sons, Kevin and Dean, both of Bellevue; and a daughter, Sara (Brent) Martens, of Goose Lake; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Loella Babe Carter and Bonnie Blake both of Bellevue. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Deana Stoecken; three brothers, Ardell Butch, George Jr., and Eugene Tuffy Ernst; and two sisters, Mary Jane Ernst and Rosalyn Toots Hill. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Bettys name.
