Clyde John Even, 80, of Bellevue, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Mill Valley Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue with Rev. Richard Ament officiating. Friends may call Friday evening from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Hachmann Funeral Home and again Saturday morning after 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Clyde was born on November 4, 1934 in Springbrook, the son of Leo and Loretta (Herrig) Even. He married Patricia Kirk on May 21, 1955 in Otter Creek. Clyde attended St. Peter and Paul School in Springbrook and later graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Class of 1953. He then attended Clinton Community College and Loras College. Clyde worked briefly at Clinton Engines. He also worked at the Bellevue Creamery and later at John Deere for 30 years. Clyde was involved in the 4H group, Bellevue Knights of Columbus, Bellevue Jaycees, Bellevue City Council, Bellevue Golf Board, Jackson County Sanitary Landfill, was a charter member on the Bellevue Ambulance, and served his church as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. Clyde enjoyed spending time gardening, playing golf, and working on genealogy. He loved baseball, from playing Little League to the Bellevue Braves, to watching the Chicago Cubs. Clyde umpired for over 30 years (IHSAA). He also loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clyde strongly believed the final line of the Jaycee Creed and Life: And that service to humanity is the best work of life. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 60 years, Patricia Even, of Bellevue; 11 children, Mary Carol (Al) Halsema, of Lafayette, Indiana, Claudia (Bob) Bisinger, of Andrew, Margery (Leo) Veseling, of St. Charles, Illinois, Steven (Susan) Even, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Michael (Marla Kaufman) Even, of Amana, Iowa, Angela (Weasel) Decker, of LaMotte, Mark (Syrena) Even, of Atalissa, Iowa, Tina (Steve) Jaeger, of Iowa City, Lynn (Beth) Even, of Stephen City, Virginia, Melissa Even, of Monroe, Wisconsin, and Robert (Jennifer Raby) Even, of Bellevue; 22 grandchildren, Kathy, Megan, and Paige Halsema, Anna Alecci, Janelle Quiroz, Carly Kurr, Colin, and Garrett Bisinger, Zachary Even, Jarred, Audrey, and Toby Decker, Jackie, Dakota, and Raquel Even, Victoria and Samantha Jaeger, Addison, Owen, and Gavin Even, Alex and Jalen Capesius; five great grandchildren, Landon Hayden, Connor, and Roselyn Bisinger, Asher Even, Hallie Decker, and another on the way; 3 special friends, Audri Runde, Dakota Runde, and Samantha Raisbeck; two brothers, Don (Sharon) Even, of Dubuque, Larry (Joyce) Even, of Maquoketa; and a sister, Diane (Tom) Murray, of Downers Grove, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Mae Even and Mary Jane Harris; and a grandson, Casey Even. Memorials in Clydes name may be given to Marquette Catholic High School, or Bellevues Braves Baseball for field improvements.
