Curt Lee Gothard, 60, of Bellevue, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 4, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Curt will be held from 2:00 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, and again Monday morning From 8:30 until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Curt was born March 5, 1953, in Bellevue, son of Kenneth and Marge (Michel) Gothard. He married Mary Jo Heiar on July 11, 1980, in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMotte. Curt graduated from Marquette High School, class of 1971. He later graduated from Clarke College with a bachelors degree. Curt was employed by John Deere, Cycare, Westmark and Truck Country, which led him to fulfilling his lifes dream of forming his own company, Gothard & Associates. He was a member of Bellevue Rotary and Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. Curt loved spending time with his family and friends, playing volleyball, pontooning on the river and helping the community. His sense of humor will be with us forever. Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Jo; three sons, Jake (Brittany), a grandchild on the way, of Dubuque, Jason and Justin; mother, Marge Gothard, of Bellevue; four brothers, James (Mary Jo) of Walnut, IL., Doug (Theresa Boeson) of Eldridge, IA., Steve (Laurie) of Daytona Beach, FL., and Terry (Cindy) of Highlands Ranch, CO.; three sisters Pat (Jim) Theisen of Dubuque, Linda (Brent) Rathje, of Maquoketa, Mari Jo (Jerry) Pitts of Bellevue; brothers in-law, Bill (Jane), Marv (Jeanne), Garry (Jeanne), Larry (Edna) and Tom (Sandy) Heiar; and a sister in-law, Jan (Roger) Averkamp. Curt is preceded in death by his father Kenneth, father in-law Ray Heiar and a sister in infancy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be given to both Bellevue high schools to be used for the advancement of their technology departments.
