David R. Meier, 61 of Bellevue, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6 at St. Josephs Catholic Church; Bellevue officiated by Father Stephen Meyer. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dave was born on June 16, 1948 in Bellevue, son of Robert and Marilyn (Schurbon) Meier. He married Dixie Gottleaber on June 20, 1970 in Bellevue. Dave was hardworking, caring, helpful and always happy. He owned and operated Meier Construction for over 30 years, as well as the Frontier Tavern in Bellevue. He enjoyed being outdoors and on the river. In recent years boating with his friends became his favorite pastime. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his children Robert Bob Meier and Kaybe (Travis) Bullock, both of Bellevue; two grandchildren, McKenzie and Zachary; his mother, Marilyn Meier, of Bellevue; two brothers, Dale (Barb Ament) Meier, of Bellevue, and Donny Meier, of LaMotte; and special friends Shelly Davis and Mindy and Bryce LeRette.
