David R. Michels, 45, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007 at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque after a battle with cancer. David was born February 13th, 1962, in Bellevue, son of Royal and Carol (Bierman) Michels of Bellevue. He married Darla Hankemeier on September 30th, 1989 at Salem Lutheran Church, Andrew. She survived. David was a forklift operator for Eagle Window & Door in Dubuque. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. Besides his wife, Darla and his parents Royal and Carol Michels, of Bellevue, survivors include two daughters, Tiffany and Samantha Michels; two brothers, Dale (Lori) Michels, Elvira and Allan (Sondra) Michels, Bellevue; one sister, Barb (Jeff) Michels, Bellevue; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 25th, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Paul Gammelin will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Bellevue, where full military honors will be conducted by the Bellevue American Legion Post 273.
