DEAN C. PIEPER SR., of Bradenton, FL formerly of Clinton. Dean passed away May 29, 2007 at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4. 2007, at Lemke Funeral Homes-South, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton. Rev. Horst Hehr will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Dean was born in Clinton, Iowa on March 11, 1929 to Curtis & Olga (Bjornas) Pieper. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1947. Dean was a standout on Clintons all-time great Fire-wagon Five basketball team. His most outstanding accomplishments were achieved in track, where he became the greatest miler, on the cinder track, to date in Iowa high school track history. After graduating from Clinton high school, Pieper starred on the Northwestern University track team and he was also a member of the N.U. cage squad. Pieper was also ranked as the third best miler in the Big Ten. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. After marrying, he moved to Monmouth, IL where he taught history for one year and also coached track and basketball where he earned his team first place standings. Afterwards Dean lived in New Jersey for 24 years and worked as a mechanical contractor. Later he moved back to Iowa and worked in the same field. Dean moved to Bradenton, FL where he has been living for the past 6 years. Survivors include; his significant other; Christine Fox-Vilmont; 3 daughters, Nancy (Ed) Morgan, Susan Pieper, and Karen (Steven) Graham, all from New Jersey, and one son Dean C. (Kathy) Pieper Jr. of Oviedo, FL; seven grandchildren; Elizabeth (Robert) Dallas; Michael and Christopher Pieper; Ashley, Casey, Justin, and Cody Graham; great grandchildren; Jackson, Iain, Quincy, and Whittaker Dallas; One sister; Nan (Richard) Powell, of Camanche, IA; one brother David (Jeannie) Pieper, of St. Charles, MO. Preceded in death by one son, and his parents. Memorials can be made to the Clinton High Athletics.
