Debra Deb Lynn Petersen, 65, of Bellevue, left this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, October 9, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. A Reception will take place immediately following the service at the State Park Lodge in Bellevue. Visitation for Deb will be from 1:00 to 3:00pm, Sunday prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Deb was born May 18, 1951, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, daughter of John and Lorna (Larson) Steiner. She was the oldest of eight children, and was raised in Boscobel and Potosi, Wisconsin. Deb was a 1969 graduate of Potosi High School and received her registered nursing degree from Northeast Iowa Technical Institute in 1980. She married Brian Curtis Petersen October 9, 1982. Over the years Deb worked at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, and Medical Associates, Dubuque. She was also director of nursing at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Baxter, Iowa, a business she co-owned with her husband Brian. Her gift of caring for others was apparent in her role as sister, friend, daughter, mother, and grandmother. She was always willing to help others, and did so with a smile on her face and a positive energy that was contagious. Debs life was full of laughs, and she lived it to its fullest. She loved to travel and did extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She loved her dog Belle and her cat Gracie. She liked to cross-stitch and read. Above all, Deb loved her family. After retiring, she was never home for long, either with family or grandchildren. Those left to honor her memory include her three children, Scot (Kathey) Schuckert, of Ames, Iowa, Tamra Schuckert, of Bellevue, and Jason Schuckert, of Dale, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Maddison, Lorna, Jack, Jacob and Elizabeth; mother, Lorna, of Platteville, Wisconsin; seven siblings, Chuck (Gail) Steiner, Greg (Celeste) Steiner, Laurie (Terry) Patzner, Mark (Kathy) Steiner, Tom (Shirley) Steiner, Steve (Pam) Steiner and Molly (Gerry) Carns; and first and forever best friend and cousin Terri (Marv) Cunningham. She is preceded in death by her husband, father, and black labrador, Belle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for donation to a charity of their choice. The family would like to thank the Bellevue EMS and Fire Department and the staff at Mercy Medical Center ER, for the special care and concern shown to Deb in her last days. God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. - Jewish proverb
