Dennis Henry Berlage

Dennis H. Berlage, 73, of Asbury, passed away Friday morning, August 15, 2014 at his home. Funeral services for Dennis will be held at 10:30AM Monday, August 18, 2014 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 9:00AM until the start of Mass Monday morning at the Church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Dennis, son of Clement & Stella (Folks) Berlage was born on December 12, 1940 in Galena, Illinois. He married Diane Roeder on May 1, 1965 in Bellevue. Dennis served the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. He worked as a Graphic Designer for Flexsteel and later Brown Publishing, retiring in 2006. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was thoughtful and caring. Dennis loved spending time outdoors at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin and enjoyed time spent with friends while having breakfast at Jorjas Restaurant each morning. Dennis was a great man and will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 49 years, Diane, of Asbury; three children, Shelly (Dave Weig) Blum, Steve (Donna) Berlage and Heather (Don) Weig, all of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Josh, Brianna, Kaylee, Alex, Ryan, Kayden, Nick, Grace and Taylor; mother, Stella, of Galena; two brothers, John (Marilyn), of East Dubuque and Ron (Donna), of Galena; and sister, Darlene Griebe, of Galena. He was preceded in death by his father, Clement; stepfather Cletus Berlage; and father in-law, Floyd Roeder. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Whalen and nurses Sue, Christy and Wendy as well as Dr.Tom Johnson and his nurses Barb and Julie for the care they gave Dennis over the past several years.
