DiAnn M. Kilburg (Bolender)

DiAnn M. Kilburg, 72, of Bellevue, passed away, peacefully on Monday evening, March 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services for DiAnn will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 28, 2014 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue, with Rev. Father Phillip Kruse officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday Evening from 3 to 7 pm at the Hachmann Funeral Home, and again on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. DiAnn was born on August 15, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Frances (Ring) Bolender. She married John Gourley in 1962 at St. Marys Church in Dubuque. He passed away December 30, 1966. She later married Allen Kilburg on December 30, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque. DiAnn graduated from the Dubuque Beauty Academy in 1961. DiAnn and Allen made their home in Bellevue where DiAnn was fortunate enough to be a stay at home Mom; family was most important to her. After their children were all in school, DiAnn went to work at the Bellevue Public Library, and later at Loras College Library, keeping in touch with her love of reading. While working at Loras, she attended classes, graduating with a bachelors degree in 1999. She was very proud to obtain her masters degree in Liberal Arts in 2004, graduating from Loras College the same year that her granddaughter did. After retiring from Loras she took up proof-reading, working at home, which was her ultimate goal. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 46 years, Allen, of Bellevue; 11 children, 19 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; Dan and Lori of Bellevue (Ben, Laura, Wrenley, and Will; Tony, Molli, and Cecelia; Maggie and Fritz); Beth and Eric Schappach of Danbury, CT; Kate and Larry Pitts of Springbrook (Amanda, Clint, and Mallory; Angie, Nick, and Caleb); Anne and Terry Hefel of Dubuque (Hannah and Sophia): Laura of Pipestone, MN; Rich and Laura of Aurora, IL (Libby); Charlie and Denise of Menasha, WI (Lyndsey and Marissa); Patricia and Tom Williams of Davenport (Samantha, Max, John, and Eric) Sharon and Marty Lyons of Dubuque (Katie and Kasey) Barb and Andy Owca of Madison, WI (Maddie, Izzy, and Jake) and Nick of Augusta, GA. Sisters Loni (Jr.) Droessler of Dickeyville, WI; Pam Spiegel of AZ; and Mike Herbst of Onalaska, WI; brothers-in-law Tom (Twyla) Glenn of Des Moines; Marvin (Gloria) Kilburg of CA; David (Betty) Kilburg of Bellevue; and sisters-in-law Alice Davis of Bellevue; Marcellene Sullivan of IL; and MaryJane Dunne of CA. DiAnn is preceeded in death by her parents; Sisters Jeanette Eichacher and Sharon Glenn; brothers-in-law Ed and Jim, and sister-in-law Carol Roling. The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice of Dubuque and all friends and family who have shown DiAnn support when she needed it. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in DiAnns name.
