Donald E. Neubert, 91, of Bellevue, died Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 30, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Don will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, and again Wednesday morning after 8:00 until procession to the church. Donald was born December 15, 1921 in Clinton, son of Lynn and Pansie (Wernick) Neubert. He married Evelyn Heiar on June 3, 1947 in Bellevue. She passed away on September 4, 2010. Donald proudly served his country in World War II from June 1943 until July 1945. In the Army he was in the European-African and Middle Eastern Theaters. His Battles and Campaigns included Naples-Foggia, Rome-ARNO, No Appennies, and PO Valley. PFC Neubert was wounded in Italy on June 4, 1944 when his tank struck three German mines and started burning. He was awarded the Purple Heart and later in July 1948 the WWII Victory Medal. Donald worked for the Hayes Brothers Dairy, and ran the Creamery in Bellevue for over 50 years. He made Gold Crest Ice Cream and delivered milk door-to-door in the Bellevue area. Donald was very outgoing; he enjoyed gardening, and was a die-hard cubs fan. Those left to honor his memory include his two children Marie (Dick) Zeimet, and Vicki (Gerry) Kuhl, both of Bellevue; daughter in-law Elaine Neubert, of Bellevue; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother in-law Allan (Ruth) Heiar; and sister in-law Verna Mae Ernst.
