Donald John Sieverding, 71 of Bellevue, IA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2016. Don fought the fight against cancer with never ending faith, strength, and grace and is an inspiration to many. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Don will be from 3:00 to 8:00pm. Wednesday evening at St. Joseph Catholic Church and again Thursday afternoon after 1:00pm at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Don was born April 30, 1945 in Bellevue, IA, son of Cletus and Clara (Till) Sieverding. He married Darla Schwager on June 29, 1965 at St. Joseph's Church in Bellevue, IA. Together they raised six children. Don lived his life for God, his wife of 51 years, his children and grandchildren. He was a selfless man who always put everybody else first. His care and concern for others never went unnoticed. He touched and influenced many lives and was a leader and role model to all. He loved music and played accordion in the band The Paradise Kings that later became known as The Sieverding Band. After maintaining a family farm and working 30 years at John Deere, Don retired and still continued to work hard everyday helping others. He was involved in many community and church organizations including: parish council, Knights of Columbus, school board, Bellevue Ambulance service and Bellevue Horseman's Club. Together, Don and Darla were active members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church volunteering at the Parish Pork Roast and as a sponsor couple for engaged couples. Those left to honor his memory include his wife Darla Sieverding, their six children, Rick Sieverding, Dean (Heather) Sieverding, Tammy Schebler (Gabe Munz), Troy (Tina) Sieverding, Jamie (Tonia) Sieverding, Rob (Erin) Sieverding; 15 grandchildren; 8 siblings, Marilyn (Virtus) Clasen, Alice (Lorin) Kilburg, Cletus Jr. 'Ham' (Betty), Loren 'Butch' (Donna), Dave (Norma), Glen (Shirley), Dan 'Pete' (Mary), Mark 'Weed' (Sherri); and sister in-law, Darlene. He was preceded in death by his parents Cletus and Clara Sieverding, brother Tom Sieverding, sister Karen Sieverding, sister-in-law Phylis Sieverding and brother-in-law Lorin Kilburg. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Jackson County, Dr. Kevin Bible and team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Hope Center and team in Rochester, MN, Dr. Hermann and team at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA, Hachmann Funeral Home in Bellevue, IA and the many family and friends that visited and prayed for Don.
