Dorothy M. (Klein) Meier

Dorothy M. (Klein) Meier, 78 of Bellevue, passed on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Luther Manor in Dubuque. Visitation will be from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm (Noon), Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 pm (Noon) at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.

Dorothy was born October 12, 1946, in Bellevue, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (McCartney) Klein. Dorothy grew up at Granpa Klein’s home in Bellevue, on the river until 1956, then moved to the family farm. She graduated from Bellevue Community High School in 1965. Dorothy met James “Jim” Meier when she was 10 years old at country school. Dorothy and Jim later were engaged during Christmas of 1975 and married on June 12, 1976. She worked for Swifts & Co. in Clinton before marrying Jim, she then stayed home to help on the farm and raise her sons. Dorothy returned to work in 1994 at Products Unlimited in Sabula until 2004. She then helped her son with bookkeeping until retiring with her husband in 2008. Dorothy enjoyed collecting dolls, canning, and car cruising with the Main Street Cruisers with her husband. Dorothy and Jim enjoyed many adventures and trips throughout the Midwest. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Meier; sons, Michael Meier and John Meier; a sister, Mary (Doyle) Roos; brothers in-law, Mark Meier, Lynn Meier, and Kevin (Karla) Meier; and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father in-law, Leo and Mavis Meier; a brother, Dennis Klein; and a sister, Helen Klein.
