Dorothy was born August 12, 1923 in Preston, Minnesota, the daughter of Rev. Gerhard and Louise (Hempeler) Bunge. She married Bob Ohlendorf on August 25, 1946 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ottumwa by Dorothys Father Rev. Gerhard Bunge. Dorothy was a teacher at Andrew High School for a few years and later with Bellevue Community Schools for over 32 years, retiring in 1985. Dorothy and Bob never had children of their own, however, she always thought of her students as her children. Even after retirement she enjoyed catching up with her former students. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening with her husband. She was a very creative person and over the years spent a lot of time painting, making jewelry and sewing. Dorothys Faith in Christ was very important to her and she was very involved at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Those left to honor her memory include many nieces, nephews and counsins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Dr. Leland Bunge and sister, Noreen Kebschull. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to St. John Lutheran Youth Bible Fund, in Dorothys name.
