Dorothy Stanek

Dorothy E. Stanek, 92, of Bellevue, passed away on Thursday evening, October 23, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 27 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue, where friends may greet the family from 9:00 a.m. until the start of service. Pastor Paul Gammelin will officiate. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home in Bellevue. Dorothy was born March 29, 1922 in Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of Tom and Mary (Ruchotzke) Maltas. She married Ben Stanek on September 16, 1942 in Preston, Iowa. Dorothy owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years. She belonged to St. John Lutheran Church and the Elizabeth Circle. Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, golfing and spending time outdoors. Her family was extremely important to her. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her three daughters, Mary Fisher, of Davenport, Linda Ries, of Bellevue and Joan (Jerry) Roth, of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren, Leigh Hoover, Joe (Audra) Ries, Kelly (Jeff) Duesing, Ben (Alisa) Roth, and Mike (Samantha) Roth; seven great grandchildren; sister, Marge (Don) Koch; and dear friends, Joan and Wallace Kruse and Glen and Mary Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in-law, David Ries; grandson, Jonathan Ries; brothers, Harry, Ralph, Tommy; and sisters, Elnora and Esther.Reception:St. John Lutheran Church300 South 3rd StreetBellevue, IA 52031
