Edna Anna Leonard, 90, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, March 4, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Edna will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. 10:30 at the funeral home Edna was born on July 15, 1923 in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of Peter and Magdalena (Heiar) Sprank. She married John Leonard on October 10, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. He passed away on October 29, 2002. Edna worked at the Gibson Plant for many years. She was a loving wife, sister, and aunt. Edna was kind and gentle and always made time for others. Family was important to her, she was the go to for family genealogy. She was generous with her time volunteering in the community. Over the years she helped at the butterfly garden and for many years Edna and her sister Clara made their famous pie crust for the Fire Department Chili Supper. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her brother, Peter (Mary Anna) Sprank, of Springbrook; a sister, Clara Lucke, of Bellevue; sister in-law, Jeanette Sprank; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leo and Ardo; and two sisters, Martha Schwager and Mavis Meier.
