Eldora was born July 14, 1932, the daughter of George and Clarabelle (Scholtes) Wilming. She was a proud graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1950. At the age of 29, Eldora lovingly raised her children on her own; having a strong faith to lead her. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Eldora was a woman of strength and kindness; well loved and admired by many. Having a strong work ethic, Eldora was a waitress for 43 years at the Riverview Hotel, retiring at the age of “84”. With a smile she greeted and served local and many out of town guests proudly welcoming them to our Bellevue Community.
Eldora was recognized with the “Bellevue Citizen Award” and Heritage Days Grand Marshal in 2013. She volunteered many years at the Bellevue Senior Center, and generously donated 114 pints of blood to the Red Cross. Eldora was passionate about many things. She enjoyed traveling, bus trips to casinos, and Red Hat lady adventures. She was an avid league bowler, and always ready for a game of Euchre. Her famous “oatmeal cake” was shared with many. The greatest gift was her children and grandchildren; who she dedicated her entire life to. She always “Showed Up” to many activities, just give me 5 minutes “I’ll be ready”!
Those left to honor her memory; children, Dick (Marcia) Steines, Jim (Laurie) Steines, Barb Ries, Joyce Davids, Ruth Putman, Brenda (Terry) Bronson, Linda (Joey) Michels, and Lisa (Ron) VanNatta; a sister, Marion Redmond; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eldora was preceded in death by her parents; sons in-law, Robert Ries, Robert Davids, and Larry Putman; a grandson, Douglas Ries; a brother, Wayne (Patricia) Wilming; and a brother in-law, Mike Redmond.
