Eldred N. Dondlinger, 89, of Bellevue, passed away Monday evening, April 13, 2015, at his home in Springbrook, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Eldred will be held from 3:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Eldred was born on July 13, 1925 in Springbrook, Iowa, son of Peter and Elizabeth (Weis) Dondlinger. Eldred served the United States Army from 1944-1946 in the 27th Infantry Regiment. He married Ailene Lochner on September 16, 1952 at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque. Eldred farmed his entire life. He was born on and raised on the family Century Farm near Springbrook, which he was proud to have farmed with his son and grandson. Eldred was a quiet, hardworking man who was always family oriented and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization. Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Ailene, of Springbrook; son, Dale (Joan) Dondlinger, of Springbrook; Joan Dondlinger, of Springbrook; two grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Dondlinger, of Springbrook, and Jennifer (Jason) Clasen, of Peosta, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Jaden and Hailey Dondlinger and Rachel and Paige Clasen; siblings, Jean Smith, Anna Mae Steffen, Adeline (Bernard) Hefel, Iva (Jack) Oberbrockling, and Julaine (Rich) Frank; and sisters in-law, Lillian Dondlinger, Rose Mary Lochner, and Carolyn (John) Blocklinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norbert.
