Eleanor E. Kilburg, 97, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Luther Manor in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may greet the family, Thursday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kingery Funeral Home and again Friday morning after 9:30 at the funeral home until procession to the church. Eleanor was born March 31, 1912 in Springbrook, the daughter of John and Cecilia (Klosterman) Rubel. She married Walter N. Kilburg on October 2, 1934 in Springbrook. He passed away December 21, 2006. Eleanor was a leader, she worked hard and was always willing to give. She was a devoted wife, mother and Christian. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its rosary society. In her early years she enjoyed dancing with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and playing cards with family and friends. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Darwin (Barb Roeder) Kilburg, of DeWitt, Mary Lois (Tom) Kueter, of Peosta, Doris (Don) Medinger, of Bellevue, and Arla (Terry) Hodgkinson, of Orlando, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers Roland, Edward, John, and William; and two sisters, Emma Walz and Viola Kilburg.
