Esther C Howe

Esther C. Howe, 94, of Albany, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center North Campus. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 9 11am at Albany Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM at the Church. Pastor David Davies will officiate. Pallbearers will be Cory Miensma, Eric Miensma, Krisy Dauen, Kyle Dauen, Kayla Bitler and Brice Bitler. Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL. Lemke Funeral Homes Lyons Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Esther was born on December 6, 1912 in Clinton, IA to George and Christine (Ipsen) Joens. She was a high school graduate. She married Merlin Howe on June 10, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa. She was a Homemaker and also worked for many years at Julies Café. Esther enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Esther is survived by her grandchildren; Julie (Mrs. Brian) Rowland of Albany, IL, Pam (Mrs. John) Piersol of Albany, IL and Tom (Jane) Bitler of Albany, IL; 9 great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Robert Bitler of Albany, IL and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, daughter, Karen and 8 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Memorials can be made to Albany United Methodist Church.
