Floyd Roeder, 96, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. Arrangements are pending at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral services for Floyd will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue with Rev. Father Phillip Kruse officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday Evening from 3 to 7 pm at the Hachmann Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Floyd Roeder, son of Frank & Margaret (Wagner) Roeder was born on July 4, 1917 in Andrew, Iowa. He married Viola Hingtgen on June 27, 1939 at St. John Catholic Church in Andrew. He started a construction business with two of his brothers in 1940. He was partner in Roeder Brothers (J.I. Case Implements) from 1946 to 1948, when they became International Harvester dealers. In 1957 they opened a branch store in Dubuque. Floyd loved his work, he continued various duties at Roeder Brothers right up to the end. Floyd was a very hard working and determined man who was great with people, had an excellent sense of humor and could tell a story like no one else could. He will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 74 years, Vi Roeder, of Bellevue; seven children, Barb (Darwin Kilburg) Roeder and Bob (Rose) Roeder, both of DeWitt, Diane (Dennis) Berlage, of Dubuque, Cheri Griebel and Gary (Katy) Roeder, both of Bellevue, Rick (Donna) Roeder, of Dubuque and Mary (Aron) Thielen, of Victoria, Minnesota; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Orville, Kenneth, Harry, and Clarence; two step brothers, Carlos and Norbert; and two sons in-law, Van Rolling and Glenn Griebel. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Viner and his nurse Ann, the Bellevue Ambulance Service and Hospice of Dubuque for their special care shown to Floyd.
