Forrest Doland, 102, of Dubuque, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Eagle Pointe Place, Dubuque.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be held in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Forrest will be from 4:00 7:00 Friday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9:00 10:00 at the funeral home.Forrest was born on January 18, 1915 in Fayette, Iowa, son of Forrest and Elizabeth (Corbitt) Doland.He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a longtime member of the American Legion. In 1945 he started the Big D Super Value in Bellevue which he owned for 32 years. He was active in the community and enjoyed boating, water skiing and golf. During his 41 years of retirement he spent time in Mesa, AZ, Bellevue and Dubuque.Those left to honor his memory include his two daughters, Jane (John) Bottone of Midlothian, VA and Connie (Coy) Gaddie of Tucson, AZ, three sons, Terry (Lynn) Doland of Eloy, AZ, Patrick (Kathy) Doland of Northbrook, IL and Michael (Priscilla) Doland, of Dubuque, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a brother, Donn (Virginia) of Juneau, AK.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret; sister, Doris Lynch and three brothers, Robert, Dilman and Willis Gus Doland.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, IA 52002.
