George A. Blount, 67, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center, North Campus. George was born July 21st, 1940, in Iowa City, son of the late Howard and Doris (Handy) Blount. He married Linda Witt on October 20th, 1960, in Maquoketa. She survives. George was a Quality Control Tech for Clinton Corn and ADM for more than 41 years and for the last seven years had worked HyVee Pharmacy and Floral delivery. He was also a member of the Early American Crafters of Fulton. He wrestled in high school qualifying for state all four years and placing third twice. He and Linda enjoyed following the steamboats traveling often from Muscatine to Wisconsin. Most recently he discovered a talent for photography accumulating many beautiful photographs and he enjoyed gardening. Besides his wife, Linda of Clinton, his survivors include; two sons, Douglas (Jennifer) Blount, Austin, TX, Gregory (Stacy) Blount, Ames; three granddaughters, Samantha, Amelia and Alexandra Blount; three sisters and one brother, Donna Hart, Galesburg, IL, Patsy (William) Colson, Clinton, Doris Ann (Jack) Lovell, Clinton, Ronald (Bernice) Blount, Charlotte and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Blount, California and Rosalie Blount, Idaho. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Tim and an infant Patrick. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 18th, 2008, at the Evangelical Free Church, Clinton. The Rev. Tom Loyola will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at The Lemke Funeral Home, South Chapel and again on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of Services at the Church. The Lemke Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Clinton are in charge of the arrangements.
