George Johnson Jr., 95, of Davenport, died Sunday morning, March 11, 2018, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa.A funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, March 14, at the Memorial Chapel at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation for George will be from 9:30 - 10:30am Wednesday prior to the service at the Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, in Bellevue.George was born on April 20, 1922 in Monarch, Wyoming, son of George Sr. and Mary (Forman) Johnson. He married Lela Wolf on April 18, 1947, in Missoula, Montana. George grew up in the wild west and was a real-life cowboy, He worked for many ranchers in the Colorado-Idaho area for many years. He met the love of his life Lela, who was the chuck wagon cooks daughter. They continued that lifestyle for a few years before they moved to Davenport, Iowa to be with family. George gained employment with Northrop Grumman, a Defense Contractor in the shipping department. He will be deeply missed by all.Those left to honor his memory include his four grandchildren, Dustin, Darren, Rusty and Wesley Johnson; three great grandchildren, Fischer Lee, Avery Irene and Phoenix Keith Johnson; a niece, Carol Jasper and very special friend Shirley Vensland.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela and son, Robert Johnson in 2003.
