Grace Amelia Parsons

Grace Amelia Parsons, 98 passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded and a private family memorial will be held Monday, June 18, 2007. Lemke Funeral Homes, Lyons Chapel 2304 North Second Street, will be assisting the family. Grace was born in Carroll County on Nov. 1, 1908 to John and Anna Castle Stephan. She was a graduate of Savanna Township High School. Grace married Harold E. Vesely in 1929. Together, they had one son, Harold Jr. (Susie) of Salt Lake City, UT. In 1940 Harold Sr. passed away. She married Lowell Irving Parsons on December 22, 1943 in Chicago. Together, they had two sons, Steve (Kathy) of Teeds Grove, IA and John (Mary) of Clinton, IA. Grace was employed for 20 years as the top fiscal officer at the Savanna Ordinance Depot. She and Lowell then bought a farm in the Teeds Grove area where she resided until entering Big Meadow Nursing Home in Savanna, IL two years ago. Grace was also employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Arlos Friendly Service Station in Clinton. Grace loved to read and to be outdoors. She was a great traveler and took many trips. She made annual trips over the years to Salt Lake City, UT to be with family. Grace was one of Jehovahs Witnesses and a member of the North Congregation in Clinton. She volunteered many hours in their home missionary work. Grace is survived by her three sons, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and both husbands preceded her in death.
