Helen M. Daugherty (Lampe)

Helen M. Daugherty, of Bellevue, passed away, peacefully Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center, in Bellevue, Iowa surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue with Rev. Father Phillip Kruse officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday Evening from 3 to 7pm at the Hachmann Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Helen was born on December 18, 1921 in Bellevue, Iowa the daughter of William and Anna (Haxmeier) Lampe. She married Charles Heim on November 19, 1942, he passed away September 22, 1944. She later married John Daugherty on November 17, 1946 in Bellevue, he proceeded her in death on November 6, 1982. Helen worked at Ensign Coil Co. in Bellevue for many years. John and Helen raised twelve children on a farm west of Bellevue. She was a strong, beautiful and fun-loving woman, with a quick sense of humor, and enjoyed visiting. She looked forward to her monthly get-togethers with her birthday club; loved to play euchre, enjoyed watching sports, especially her sons and grandkids playing basketball, softball and baseball. Helen enjoyed gardening and she especially loved her flowers. She was the cornerstone of her large family, and will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor her memory include her children; Jan (Roger) Watters, of Bellevue, Barb (Clark) Ginter, of Colorado Springs, CO, Ann Duehr, of Dubuque, Mary ( Ray) Kubik , of Bellevue, Joe (Janell), of Bellevue, George (Winnie), of Bettendorf, Molly (Bob) Ploessl of Bellevue, Sheila (Steve) Clasen, of Scottsdale AZ; Mike (Michelle), of Dunkerton, IA, and Dan of Bellevue; 22 grandchildren ; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Norbert (Linda) Lampe of Epworth, and Larry (Maryetta) Lampe, of Bellevue; two sisters, Mary Sturm, and Marcella Babe Junk, both of Bellevue; and sisters in-law, Velma Lampe, Agnes Daugherty, Helen Mulligan, Sr. Gertrude Daugherty, Mary Lou Koppes, Sr. Betty Ann Daugherty, Betty Daugherty and Rita Daugherty; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both husbands; parents; sons, Bob and Greg; son-in-law Ben Duehr; brother, Richard Lampe; and sister, Mercedes Herrig. We would like to thank the staff at Mill Valley Care Center and Hospice for their kindness and compassion shown to Helen and her family; it was greatly appreciated.
