Inola C. Burkert, 87 of Bellevue, passed away, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Mill Valley Care Center. A Service of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 23 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, also at St. John Lutheran Church. Inola Gieseman was born on October 1, 1924 in Bellevue, daughter of Diedrick and Alma (Wiese) Gieseman. She married Lloyd Burkert on October 7, 1944 in St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. She worked at Younkers Departments Store in Dubuque, the Quality Shop in Bellevue and later helped with the hot lunch at Bellevue Community School. She enjoyed knitting, Cross-stitch, and quilting. She also spent time playing cards and solving crossword puzzles. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Lloyd, of Bellevue; daughter, Annette (Wayne) Schilling, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, John Burkert; two sisters, Althea Feil and Armella Gibson; and a brother in infancy. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on Finleys 4th floor, Dr. John Whalen and Dr. Matthew Kirkendall and his nurse Kate for all the care and compassion shown to Inola.
