Irvin L. Koos, 90 of La Motte, IA passed away on April 12, 2015 at Mill Valley Care Center Bellevue, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 15, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Bellevue, with the Rev. Fr. Kruse officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in La Motte. Visitation for Irvin will be from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Tuesday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue, where a Rosary will be said at 2:30pm. Visitation will also take place at the funeral home, Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00am. Irvin was born October 7th, 1924 southwest of La Motte, son of Nicholas & Margaret (Hingtgen) Koos. He married Mary (Hartung) Koos on September 22nd, 1948 in the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, Wis. Irvin farmed his entire life and took pride in his work. He enjoyed farming and especially enjoyed farming with his grandchildren, Tim and Travis Manders. He was very active in the community. Irvin was a member of the Jackson County Cattlemen's Association and Jackson County Pork Producers. He was a past director of the La Motte Telephone Co., and served on the Jackson County Extension Council. Irvin was a former member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMotte and a current member St Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. He was also a member of the Luxembourg Society of Iowa, the Jackson County Farm Bureau and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus of the Notre Dame Council No. 4236. Irvin enjoyed speaking the Luxembourg language with his friends & family here in the states; as well as his relatives & friends in Luxembourg, Europe. Those left to honor his memory include his wife Mary and eight children, including, Bridget (John) Costello of Delmar, Linda Koos of Maquoketa, Joyce (Ricky) Kohrt of Maquoketa, Wanda Koos of La Motte, and Leon (Joan) Koos of La Motte; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marcella Hartung of Galena, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Kelly Koos; sisters, Bernice Koos, Mary Tranel, and Coletta Koos; and brothers, Nicholas, Lawrence, and Alvin. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Mercy/Medical Associates Heart Failure Team, Dr. Loukinen, Dr. Whalen, Dr. Hunter, La Motte Fire & Rescue, and all nurses, staff and KENNY VISITS at the Mill Valley Care Center, and Hospice of Jackson County, for all the care and compassion shown to Irvin.
