Jack L. Carson, 76, of Bellevue, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Finley Hospital-Unity Point in Dubuque. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Visitation for Jack will be held on Saturday morning prior to the service from 9:30 - 11:00 AM, at the church. Jack was born on January 30, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harry Carson Sr. and Leona (Cowell) Glaspie. He married Diane (Keil) Carson on May 22, 1993 at St. John Lutheran Church, in Bellevue. Jack graduated high school in 1960 from Waterloo West High School. Upon completion of school he worked as a conductor, and engineer, for the Rock Island Railroad, he also worked as a conservation officer in Iowa, later retiring from the Iowa Interstate Railroad. Jack was truly passionate about the railroad, he was always talking about his experiences and how he was the last engineer to park the passenger train in Rock Island. Jack was a very talented artist, creating many water color paintings. He also enjoyed fishing, planting flowers, and model trains. He will be deeply missed.Those left to honor his memory include his wife Diane of 24 years; two sons, Jack Carson Jr., of Menlo, IA, Jayson (Jessica) Keil, of Washington, IA; three daughters, Dawn (Terry) Adams, of Menlo, IA, Tammy (Daryl) Nissen, of Elk Horn, IA, and Breanna (Travis) Cooper, of Fort. Riley, KS; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, with another one on the way; two brothers, Harry (Colleen) Carson Jr., of Ackley, IA, Jerry (Faye) Carson, of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Linda Ahlhelm, of St. Petersburg, FL; one sister in-law, Deb (Mark) Edwards, of Maquoketa, IA, and his two dogs, Hickory, and Doc. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, step father, Willard Glaspie, one grandson, brother James, mother in-law, Ruth Keil, and brother in-law, Keith Keil.The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Whalen and the entire staff at Dubuque Tri-State Dialysis, for the care and compassion shown to Jack.
