James P. Long, 72, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, with his wife, Terry by his side. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Friday at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bellevue. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Jim was born on June 8, 1944 in Bremerton, Washington, son of Paul and Helen (Sperbeck) Long. He married Terry Peterson on April 1, 1998.Jim had an expertise and knowledge of vintage motorcycles like no one else. He was a specialist in his field, he restored and rebuilt antique motor cycles for customers all over the world. Many of the bikes he restored can be found showcased in museums. Jim was in the business for over 50 years, he had many contacts and a lot of respect in the industry. He appeared in numerous articles in Easy Rider Magazine and others. He was also affiliated with many biker groups throughout the years.Jim was very outgoing and would talk to anybody. He will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Terry, of Bellevue; daughter, Tina Tuthill; three adopted sons Mitch, Tim and Tony Long; sister, Linda (Randy) Block, two brothers in-law, Clement Peterson and Jim Wolkins; daughter in-law, Judy Long; two close friends and colleagues, Bob Paulson and John Mallo; and many nieces and nephews.
