Jane Ann Burken, 71, of Preston, passed on to eternal life Thursday, March 9th, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center Clinton. Jane was born January 29th, 1935 in Bellevue, daughter of the late Herman B. and Laura (Meier) Pogeman Jr. She married Robert H. Burken I on September 14th, 1954 at the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. He preceded her in death on October 14th, 1977. Jane had worked at Norpels Market, Westbend Fishing & Tackle, Clinton Engineers and Meinerz Creamery in Preston. She received EMTA Certification and served on the Preston Volunteer Ambulance Service. Survivors include two sons, Robert H. (Deb) Burken II, Preston and Patrick H. (Tammy) Burken, Clinton; one daughter, Laura E. (Brian) Purscell, Bentonville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Robert Burken III, Nicholas Burken, Grant Purscell, Heather Purscell, Michael Burken and Sean Burken; two brothers, Norbert (Louise) Norpel, Des Moines, Richard Norpel, Sr. Besides her husband Robert Burken I, and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Carma Hoff, Mary Stuart and Eileen Lewis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, March 17th, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Preston. The Rev. Fr. Donald Plamondon will preside. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Sugar Creek. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 pm and again on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of services all at the church in Preston.
