John B. Callaghan, 96, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for John will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, and again Wednesday morning From 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. John was born March 7, 1917, in Green Island, son of B. F. and Florence (Rolling) Callaghan. He spent most of his life in Bellevue where he married Marcella Sally Fens on February 27, 1943, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. John graduated from St. Joseph High School and later attended both Loras College and University of Iowa. During WWII he served as a radio officer with the Merchant Marines. John had a long successful career in pharmaceutical sales. John enjoyed playing bridge and chess and spending time with his family and friends. He will truly be missed. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Peggy (Eugene) Kuhajek, Crystal Lake, IL, Catherine Manderscheid, Las Vegas, Nevada, John (Janet) Callaghan, Green Island and Jeanne Gagnon, Markham, Canada; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister Jeanne (Arnold) Goetz; and brother, Tom Callaghan. Besides his wife, Sally, he is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Joanne Felderman, Rosemary Bizzolara and Catherine Callaghan and a brother James Callaghan.
