Judy Kay Hingtgen

Judy Kay Hingtgen, 68, of Bellevue, went to be with the Lord September 1, 2010. She died peacefully surrounded by family after an extended illness at Mill Valley Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Hingtgen plot of St. Nicholas Cemetery Spruce Creek Church Cemetery. Visitation for Judy will be held from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Sunday Evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Monday morning after 9:00 until procession to the church. Judy was born 30 Jan 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa, The daughter of Marshall Frank and Estella E. (Vaughn) Hansel. She received her education in the Waterloo Schools and became a homemaker and then received education as a Med aid, CNA and nursing home care person. She worked at the Mental Health facility in Independence, The Independence Care Center in Independence IA. and finally helped set up and run an Alzheimer's unit near Allen Hospital until retirement. She took great joy in caring for the elderly and special needs people. During this time Judy also volunteered to help and transported special needs individuals to Camp Courageous. In her spare time Judy was always working on craft projects for family and residents of the facilities she worked in. She worked as an activities person also. She was a very kind and giving person. Judy also loved to go camping, traveling and especially the fun trips to Branson. She loved Country and Gospel music and the TV Show Touched By An Angel. Judy married Keith R. Megonigle 18 April 1959. They had two children. Judy married Gerald B. Hingtgen Sr. 8 July 1989 in Jesup, Iowa. Surviving are her husband Gerald B. Hingtgen Sr.of Bellevue, daughter Karen Kay (Megonigle) Martin, Clinton, IA, former husband Keith R. Megonigjle, and brothers Frank (Moon) Hansel, Greene, IA., Jim (Paulette) Glaspie, Waterloo, IA and Steve (Kathy) Glaspie, Aplington, IA. Step sons Michael ( Dawn) Hingtgen, Indepedence, IA, Mark (Robin) Hingtgen, Iowa City, IA, Jeffery ( Dawn) Hingtgen, Jesup, IA Patrick, (Diep) Hingtgen, United Arab Emerates, Gerald (Tracy) Hingtgen, North liberty, IA and Kevin (Melissa) Hingtgen, Fairbank:, IA. Step daughters Karen (Jim) Pullin, Jesup, IA, Karla Hingtgen, Tiffin, IA, Jean (Roy) Bergman, Littleton, IA, and Jacqueline (Rodney) Danielson, Cedar Falls, IA. Numerous grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother David Hansel and her son Roger Ray Megonigle. The family wishes to thank: Dr. Whalen, all the nurses and staff at Tri State Dialysis and the fun waiting room crowd, all with their own crosses to bear. We wish to thank: all the Doctors and staff who cared for Judy at Medical Associates and Mercy Hospital. We especially wish to thank: the wonderful staff and care givers at Mill Valley Care Center.
