Karen Sue (Napier) Hurtig, 73, of Bellevue, IA passed away Sunday morning January 15th of a sudden heart attack while visiting family in WisconsinA celebration of life will be held at Hachmann Funeral Home in Bellevue, Wednesday, January 18, from 9-11am with service following.Karen was born November 15th, 1943 in Ewing, NE, daughter of Willard Bus and Alberta Bertie (Shrader) Napier. She married Kenneth E. Hurtig on June 24th 1961. They had two children, Gregory E. Hurtig of Rock Springs, WI and Lisa S. Hurtig-Kilburg of West Branch, IA.Karen will be remembered by all as an open, warm, loving woman. She was incredibly gregarious and never met a stranger. Every person she spent time with felt as if they were the most important person in the room. She enjoyed many activities over the years such as snowmobiling, painting, traveling, Etsy-like crafts, and doing puzzles. She especially loved working with stained glass, reading and spending time with the Griffon Dog Club. Family meant the world to Karen, and to her, if you were a friend, you were family. She greatly valued spending time with her loved ones, especially spending holidays with family gathered around. For Karen, family was everything, and to her family she was everything. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 55 years, Kenneth, their two children Lisa (Tim) Hurtig-Kilburg and Gregory Hurtig, as well as her three grandchildren Adam, Rodney (Amanda), and Dominic (Sarah), her sisters Mary Jane Morsett and Lynn Sukup, and her beloved dog Jazz. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lee A. Napier, and brothers-in-law Charlie Morsett and Stanley Sukup.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Karen Hurtig Memorial Fund at Hachmann Funeral Home.
