Katherine C. 'Kay' Droessler, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Mill Valley Care Center. Katherine C. Flogel was born June 29, 1919, in Grant County, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Leo & Katherine 'Kate' (Ginter) Flogel. She married Howard Droessler on November 19, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Key West, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1993. Kay and Howard owned and operated the LaMotte Creamery for several years before moving to Bellevue, where they developed Riverview Cottages (now known as Spruce Creek Harbor), north of Bellevue. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Kay liked playing cards (especially euchre) and bowling, and was an avid golfer and Cubs fan. She also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, spending many winters in Florida, and exploring back roads for nuts, asparagus, berries, mushrooms and wildlife. Survivors include her children, Bruce (Deb) Droessler, Maquoketa, June (David) Deppe, Bellevue, and Shirley (Pat) Cloos, Springbrook; seven grandchildren, Tracy, DeAnne, Brian, Craig, Ryan, Michael and Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Elly, Eve, David, Paige and Taylor. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Irv, Carl and Herman Flogel, and three sisters, Viola Timmerman, Coletta Grobstick and Rosalia Splinter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Fr. Scott Bullock and Fr. Wayne Droessler will concelebrate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. at Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue.
