Kathleen R. Kilburg, 85, of Bellevue, passed away Wednesday morning, April 30 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Funeral Service for Kathleen will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue with Rev. Donald V. Bakewell officiating. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Visitation for Kathleen will be held from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday Evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Kathleen was born on February 7, 1929 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Meinrad and Ruth (Tucker) Hartung. She married Leroy Kilburg on September 19, 1950 in Bellevue. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2009. Kathleen graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946, she then went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught for 5 years in rural school houses, and later taught for 29 years at St. Joseph Elementary School. Kathleen lived with her husband on their farm west of Bellevue for 57 years. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. She belonged to two card clubs over the years, Young at Hearts and her neighborhood card club. She also took great interest in her grandchildren and great grandchildrens lives and was always there for them. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dennis (Diane) Kilburg, of Bellevue, Ruth Ann Kilburg, of Maquoketa, Lynn Kicker (Karla) Kilburg, of Springbrook, and Connie (Mark) Heiar, of Spragueville; three sisters, Bernice Snyder, of Hazel Green, WI, Madonna (Charles) Kirk, of Bellevue, and Mary (Earl) Fischer, of Cascade; one sister in-law, Bernadine Hartung, of Preston; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; husband Leroy; and brothers; Loras, Lawrence, and Joseph.
