Lavern W. Till, 87, of Springbrook, passed away, Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Springbrook. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Lavern will be held from 4:00-7:00p.m. Friday evening at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and again Saturday morning after 9:00 at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation, Bellevue.Lavern was born on February 27, 1930 in Andrew, the son of Peter and Clara (Entringer) Till. He married Naomi Scheckel on November 24, 1956.Lavern served in the United States Marine Corps., where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked at Clinton Engines for 16 years, after they closed he worked at Chemplex for a couple of years before starting a 20 year career at John Deere in Dubuque.Lavern was extremely handy, he was self-reliant and a jack-of-all-trades. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles, gardening and being outdoors. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 60 years, Naomi, of Springbrook; seven children, Brian (Catherine), of Coralville, Iowa, Annette Ernst, of Mission Hills, Kansas, Michelle (Mike) Daugherty, Dunkerton, Iowa, Patrick Till, of Maquoketa, Paul Till, of Springbrook, Chuck (Darla) Till, of Dubuque and Charlotte (Brian) Beck, of Ankeny, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, sister, Janiece (Al) Thola, of Charlotte; three brothers, Lowell (Arlene) Till, of Maquoketa, Eldon (Virginia) Till, of Davenport and Rich (Eunice) Till, of Maquoketa, sister in-law, Gwendola Till, of Bellevue and brother in-law Merwin Monner, of BellevueHe was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merlin Till; and two sisters, Darlene Kilburg and Shirley Monner.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hachmannfuneralhome.com.
