LeRoy Chris Reistroffer, 90, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2015 at Luther Manor in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00am, also at the funeral home. LeRoy was born the son of John and Madeline (Schumacher) Reistroffer on September 17, 1924 in Moran, Kansas. He married Marie Cummins on April 12, 1947 and together they raised five children. Chris served his country during WWII in Europe and was a double recipient of the purple heart. He was proud of his service to his country and was a 70 year member of the American Legion. He had a 30 year career working for the Milwaukee railroad. He was an avid walker who enjoyed competing in race walking events. Chris was a inspirational role model for his family and all who knew him. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 67 years, Marie, of Bellevue; children, James (Etsuko), of Tacoma, Washington, Joseph (Bobbe), of Bellevue, Iowa, Christina (John) Zehnder, of Elgin Texas, David, of Lonoke, Arkansas, and Jon (Linda), of West Palm Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Taylor, Clarksville Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
