Linda M. (Stanek) Ries

Linda M. (Stanek) Ries, 74, of Bellevue, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.  Funeral Service will be 11:30 am, Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue, visitation will be 9:30 am until services at the church.  Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bellevue.

Linda was born, July 8, 1949, the daughter of Ben and Dorothy (Maltas) Stanek.  She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1967.  She married David J. Ries on November 20, 1971 at St. John Lutheran Church, he passed on April 9, 2008.  Linda enjoyed gardening and planting flowers in her earlier years.  She worked at Ensign, Rockwell Collins, and the Bellevue Senior Center after retiring.  Linda enjoyed daily walks with her dog, Rizzo and reveled in friendly conversation with people she met along the way. Linda relished playing board games with the ladies. She will be remembered by some as their favorite babysitter or by others as a beloved friend. Linda was sweet, a kind hearted soul and a fantabulous cook. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. Her bright smile and glowing personality will leave a void in all who knew and loved her. 

Survivors include her children, Kelly Ries and Joseph (Audra) Ries all of Bellevue; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Benry, and Jordyn Ries; her beloved dog, Rizzo; siblings, Mary Fisher of Davenport and Joan (Jerry) Roth of Council Bluffs; brothers and sisters in-law, Gary (Diane) Ries, of Preston; Dale (Carol) Ries, of Bellevue; and Darla (Mike) Baker, of Maquoketa; nieces and nephews, Leigh Hoover, Alisa Roth, Michael (Samantha) Roth, Justin (Jenna) Ries, Christopher (Trista) Ries, Katelyn (Jon) Pankowski, Brandi (Ryan) Duhme, Joshua (Ali) Baker, Ryan (Jamie) Ries, and Alesha (Tyrone) Malone; and numerous great nieces and nephews. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Dorothy Stanek; father and mother in-law, Arnold and Virginia Ries her husband, David; an infant son, Jonathan; a nephew, Benjamin Roth; a grandchild, Baby Ries; and her beloved dog, Wrigley. 

The family would like to thank Deanna, Hospice of Jackson County, and the Doctors, staff, and nurses at U of I Hospital & Clinics for your loving care of Linda.
