Loren A. Nolting, 90, formerly of Preston, Iowa, passed away, Sunday morning, January 8, 2017 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue.A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 13 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation for Loren will be held from 4-7pm Thursday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Friday morning from 9-10am also at the funeral home.Loren was born June 30, 1926 in rural Preston, Iowa, son of Karl and Gladys (Wyckoff) Nolting. He married Geraldine Grant on August 22, 1950.Loren will be remembered by many as a wonderful man with a great sense of humor who was a good teaser and always had a smile and friendly hello!He worked various jobs throughout his life from farming, Clinton Engines, Ross River Feeds, factory worker, banking, laborer and an Insurance Adjuster. He and his wife raised chickens and was involved in egg production; donating eggs for many years for the churchs Sunrise Easter Breakfast.He was active in 4H, church leadership, fellowship and functions. He took great pride in his long time membership of the Jackson County Shriners, local Masons, Consistory and Eastern Star.He enjoyed time with family and friends, from card club, going to his kids and grandkids sporting and school events, and being the Masonic Lodge representative to hand out scholarships to several of his grandchildren! He and his wife enjoyed traveling on many bus trips.Loren loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice. He sang in the church choir and was a soloist for special occasions.He will best be remembered in that he taught himself how to crochet, making crocheted names for so many. His most beautiful work is the 23rd Psalm hanging in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, along with the Lords Prayer hanging in the Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, and the Catholic Church in Preston.Those left to honor his memory, include his wife of 66 years, Geraldine, of Bellevue; four children, Dennis Nolting, of Elizabeth, Illinois, Cheryl (Dale) Horan, of Bellevue, Dean (Doris) Nolting, of Preston and Cindy (Dan) Christoffel, of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a brother Wayne (Arlene) Nolting, of Preston.Loren is preceded in death by his parents; daughter in-law, Colleen Nolting; grandchild, Ryan Horan; and brother, John Nolting.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Loren Nolting Memorial Fund.
