Lorin H. Scholtes, 86, of Bellevue, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at his home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. A visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., also at the funeral home. Internment with Military Honors by the Bellevue American Legion Post #273 will take place in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellevue.
Lorin was born December 5, 1931 in Springbrook the son of Floyd and Leora (Sturm) Scholtes. Lorin married Betty Schmidt on October 5, 1954, in Preston. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Lorin worked at John Deere for 30 years and, also farmed. He was hard worker who enjoyed trucking and running a saw mill. He spent winters in Arizona and his hobbies included fishing, wood carving, gardening, and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Diana May, Kathie (Jeff) Strang, DelRay Scholtes, Mary (Venson) O’Hara, Brent (Sharon) Scholtes, and Brenda (Terry) Medinger; brother Roger (Shirley) Scholtes, two sisters LaVonne Kueter, and Louann Scheckel; brother in-laws Gerald Schroeder, John Miller; sister in-laws Becky Scholtes, Waneda Lloyd) Michel, Shirley (Tom) Driscoll, Janet Galloway; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
Lorin was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Christine Scholtes; siblings, Leonard “Shep” Scholtes, Janet Schroeder, Eugene Scholtes; brothers and sisters in-laws Ronald Kueter, Donald Scheckel, Bertha Miller, LaVern “Bud” (Emma) Schmidt, Don Galloway.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lorin’s name .
