Madonna Kirk, 78, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully, Monday afternoon, July 20, 2015, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, surrounded by her family. A Funeral Service for Madonna will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, July 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Madonna will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again on Friday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Madonna was born on August 1, 1936 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Meinrad and Ruth (Tucker) Hartung. She married Charles Chuck Kirk on August 18, 1959 in Bellevue. Madonna was a women of incredible kindness, generosity and strength. She devoted her life to her family. Madonna grew up on a farm and never forgot what it was to work hard. Throughout the years she worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, ESKA in Dubuque and Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue as a CNA. Though she worked outside the home she never missed a beat caring for her husband and children. Madonna enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards and most importantly, spending time with family. Madonna was always thinking of others and will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Charles Kirk, of Bellevue; children, Randy (Julie) Kirk, Deb (Larry) Bies, Linda (Lorin) Sullivan, Jane (Phil) Beckley, Darla (Brian) Linden, and Sandy Kilburg, all of Bellevue; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one on the way, two sisters, Bernice Snyder, of Hazel Green, and Mary (Earl) Fischer, of Cascade; and two sisters in-law, Bernadine Hartung, of Preston and Rita Hartung, of Monticello. Madonna is preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Loras, Lawrence, and Joseph; sister, Kathleen Kilburg, two nephews, Danny Snyder and Jerry Hartung. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Mill Valley Care Center, Hospice of Jackson County, Dr. Hunter and Dr. Holmes and their staff, for their care and compassion shown to Madonna.
